Herman Bernstein

Lexo ngjarje:

Herman Bernstein, a diplomat, journalist, novelist, and translator, passed away in the United States. He served as the American ambassador to Albania from 1930 to 1933, a period during which he conducted studies that provided the American Department of State with a new perspective on Albania. Born in Lithuania to a Jewish family that emigrated to America around 1890, Bernstein initially worked as a translator from Russian, translating works of various Russian authors for contemporary newspapers. He later became the founder of two prominent newspapers serving the Jewish community. As a correspondent, Bernstein immersed himself in the culture and history of the many countries he visited, particularly during World War I. He participated in the Peace Conference in Paris in 1919, an experience that brought him closer to diplomacy in a short time. During his tenure as ambassador, he researched various aspects of Albanian history, focusing particularly on the history of religions and their mysticism in the region. (Photo: Herman Bernstein)
