Injac Baqli was born in Shkodër, economist, clerk at the State Bank in Shkodër. He was arrested by the State Security on December 22, 1952. They searched his house and found a revolver in his mother’s chest. Four days later, on December 26, investigations began, initially for possession of weapons without a permit. Later he was accused of agitation and propaganda against the government. After almost a year of torture, at the end of 1953, they changed the charge again and accused him of trying to escape, of being a spy for fascism and of speaking against popular power. The Military Court of Shkodra sentenced him to 6 years of imprisonment, but the Supreme Court decided to repeat the trial, because “the records were not signed by the defendant“. The trial was repeated on July 18, 1953: “…for the crime of possession of a weapon (American gold revolver, with 5 cartridges) declared not guilty. The other charges remain“. On January 29, 1954, he requested the annulment of the decision and the return of acts for reconsideration and retrial. All this time, due to the frequent use of electroshock, his health seriously deteriorated. He died in the basement of the Shkodra civil hospital. His body was sent to the Tirana morgue and from there to the morgue of the Faculty of Medicine for student practices. (In the photo: Injac Baqli)
