Kiço Blushi, writer, publicist, dramatist and prominent screenwriter, passed away in Tirana. He was born in Korçë, in 1943. The years of higher studies he completed at the University of Tirana, Faculty of Languages and Literature, incited his passion for writing.
In 1966, he started working at the Albanian Radio Television, while from 1968 until 1986 he worked at the artistic film department of the “Kinostudio “Shqipëria e Re’”. He soon became one of the most successful screenwriters. Many of his screenplays have been honored with various prizes in literary-artistic competitions and in Albanian film festivals. Among them, the script of the movie “Beni ecën vetë”( “Beni walks by himself”) (1975) stands out, which paved the way for the successful genre of children’s films. The film received the trophy of the 1st Albanian Film Festival. Has won republic awards for directing and screenwriting, as well as international awards at the Belgrade (Yugoslavia) and Giffoni (Italy) Festivals. Among the most successful scripts are: “Pylli i lirisë” (“The forest of freedom”) (1976), “Tokë e përgjakur” (“Bloody land”) (co-author with Nexhati Tafa, 1976), “Koncert në vitin 1936” (“Concert in the year 1936”) (1978), “Në shtëpinë tonë” (“In our home”) (1979), which was awarded a special prize at the X International Giffoni Festival (Italy), “Nëntori i dytë” (“The second november”) (co-author with Dhimitër Shuteriqi, 1982) etc. He has also written several scripts for documentary films, as well as in the cartoon genre. He has also left his mark in theatrical dramaturgy. In the years 1987-1993, he served as the editor-in-chief of the magazine “Nëntori” (“November”), organ of the League of Writers and Artists of Albania. Since then, he devoted himself to journalism, courageously tackling acute political and social problems. In the years 1997-2001, he was elected deputy of the People’s Assembly.
