In Vig of Mirdita, Ndoc Mazi, a participant in the National Liberation Anti-Fascist War and Hero of the People, was killed in combat against the forces of Gjon Marka Gjoni. He was born in Shkodra in 1920 and was a student at the Shkodra high school, where he embraced communist ideas and became a member of the Communist Group of Shkodra in 1937. In February 1939, he was sentenced to imprisonment during the trial organized in Tirana against communists and was incarcerated in Mbreshtan, Berat, from where he escaped with other communists after the fascist aggression on April 7. Following his escape, he engaged in anti-fascist activities and helped organize the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War. Mazi became a member of the Albanian Communist Party immediately after its founding and participated in the meeting for the formation of the Albanian Communist Youth organization in November 1941. He was elected organizational secretary of the Albanian Communist Youth Circuit for Durrës and later became a member of the Albanian Communist Youth Circuit Committee for Shkodra in 1942. He was arrested and subjected to brutal torture for his anti-fascist activities. In Shkodër, he focused on establishing the foundations and techniques of warfare. As a partisan in the “Perlat Rexhepi” battalion in 1943, he actively propagated the ideas of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War in the Pukë-Mirditë area. (In the photo: Ndoc Mazi)
