In Shkodër, the “National Defense of Kosova” committee was founded. Representatives from various Albanian centers, which had remained outside the borders of Albania, took part in the founding assembly’s work. The activity of the Kosovo committee took place inside and outside of Albania. Although it bore the name “National Defense of Kosovo,” this committee rose above provincial interests, supported the general platform of the most advanced patriotic forces of the country, and, by it, formulated its political program. The program envisioned the solution of two main tasks: ensuring the independence and territorial integrity of the Albanian state and the unification of Kosovo and all the Albanian-inhabited regions with Albania in a unified national state as a necessary condition for the unified political, economic, and cultural development of the Albanian people. As a final aim, the Kosovo Committee had the formation of ethnic Albania. (In the photo: Members of the “National Defense of Kosova” committee.)
