The first Albanian school was opened in Libofshë, Fier, marking the inaugural Albanian school in the entire Myzeqe region, situated within the Berat-Lushnjë-Vlorë triangle. This school was established as a result of the struggles and efforts of Albanian patriots who were part of the broader National Renaissance movement. Much of the initiative stemmed from the patriotic activities of the “Reunion” (“Bashkimi”) club, led by Babë Dudë Karbunara, with Jovan Ndreko from Libofsha as a prominent member. Jovan Ndreko served as the first teacher in this classroom, which initially had 17 students. The school utilized part of the Saraj of Nedin bey Leskovik as its premises. In the third year, Anastas Laska from Libofsha, recognized as “Teacher of the People,” joined as a teacher. The opening of the first Albanian school in Libofshë demonstrated the exceptional educational and patriotic values held by the residents of this area.
