Born in Sotirë of Dropulli, Gjirokastër, Vasil Vaso was an actor. His qualities as a comedic actor were evident even while working as a mechanical technician in the Memaliaj mine. After graduating with a degree in engineering in 1967 and being appointed to the Fier Power Plant, Vasil Vaso became well-known for his extensive activity for over 37 years on the stage of the Fier Estrada. For 20 years, he led the theater group of the power plant, and later, during the years 1984–1992, he founded and directed the Patos Estrada group, while also serving as an actor, director, and literary creator. He has performed around 400 roles in sketches, monologues, dialogues, short comedies, and more. His acting is noted for beautiful improvisations, the use of comedic surprises, a penchant for the grotesque, and intonational breaks during the interpretation of several characters in a monologue. He has successfully played many roles in various comedies at the “Bylis” theater. He has translated several works by well-known international authors, which have been staged in Albanian theaters. He has been awarded the “Naim Frashëri i Artë” medal. (In the photograph: Vasil Vaso)
