Viktor Gjoka

Viktor Gjoka, actor, People’s Artist, passed away in Italy. He was born in Peshtan, Tepelene, in 1929. In 1946, he was accepted as an actor in the People’s Theater. Among the most successful roles of the first years are: Klestakov (“The Auditor” by Nikolai Gogol), Pristado (“A Lost Letter” by Ion Luca Caragiale) etc. In the years 1957-1960, he completed his higher studies for directing theater and cinematography in Baku (Azerbaijan). His most prominent roles are: Nikollaq Jorganxhiu in the comedyKarnavalet e Korçës(“The Carnivals of Korçë”)(1964) by Spiro Çomora, and Halil Shkoza in the drama “Fytyra e dytë(“The second face”)(1968) by Dritëro Agolli, with which he won the first prize as the best actor in the theater festivals of the respective years. In 1971, he left the theater for 15 years. He returned to the stage with the role of Spirake in the comedyTitanic Waltz” by Tudor Mușatescu. From 1990 he lived in Rome, where he founded the artistic and cultural associationDea“, with which he developed artistic activities with Albanian themes. He passed away in 2007.
