In the village of Gabrricë in Kaçanik, Xheladin Kurtaj was born, a fighter of the Kosova Liberation Army, a martyr. In 1995, he began studying acting at the Academy of Arts in Prishtina. From early on, he was involved in illegal activity. In the spring of 1998, he left his studies and joined the ranks of the Kosova Liberation Army in Drenica. For a while, he was engaged in the supply of armaments, and then he took part in the battle at the Carraleva Gorge. Then he moved to the Operative Zone of Nerodima, the Jezerci area and the Kaçanik villages, where he was again engaged in the supply of armaments. In July 1998, the area command appointed him responsible for the formation of the military police of the Kosova Liberation Army for the area of Kaçanik. In 1998, in his house in the village of Gabrricë, he was surrounded by Serbian forces, and after four hours of fighting, he was killed. The House of Culture in Kaçanik bears his name.
