Urban Jan Jarnik, Czech linguist, professor of Romanistics at the University of Prague, passed away in Prague; he was also involved in the study of the Albanian language. He has exchanged letters with Albanian cultural activists, such as Naim Frashëri, Kostandin Kristoforidhi, Thimi Mitko, Jeronim de Rada, Dhimitër Kamarda, etc. Among his works, we single out the books: “Zur Albanischen Sprachenkunde”, “Ljpcif” (“For the Albanian language”, 1981), “Poispivky ku poznani naoeei albansych” (“Contribution to the knowledge of Albanian dialects”, Prague, 1883), ” Albanesiche Marchen und Schëanke” (“Albanian tales and anecdotes”, 1890-1892). In his personal archive, the manuscript of “Little Bee” by Thimi Mitko was found. (In the photo: Urban Jan Jarnik)
