Xhafer Ypi, prime minister of Albania at the beginning of 1920, political activist, was born in Starje, Kolonje. He studied law at Istanbul University and worked in the Ottoman administration. Representative of Durrës in the Congress of Lushnja (1920). In different years he served as deputy (1922, 1928–1931), minister of justice, prime minister, minister of foreign affairs, minister of education, inspector general of the Royal Court and chief inspector of the Court. In 1939, he supported the Italian invasion of Albania and chaired the Provisional Administrative Committee (1939), which played the role of a government. In 1940, as Minister of Justice, Xhafer Ypi led Albanian armed units against Greece and was killed in his native village. (In the photo: Xhafer Ypi)
