Hëna Spahiu (1933–1993), an archaeologist specializing in the medieval period, was born in Libohovë. She pursued higher studies in archeology and graduated from the University of Budapest (1959). She started working in the archeology department at the Institute of History and Linguistics of the University of Tirana. She carried out excavations in the Arbër cemetery of Kruja, in the fortress of Dalmatia (Koman), in the fortress of Berat, Shkodra, etc. Her scientific activity is reflected in the monograph “Qyteti iliro-Arbëror i Beratit” (“The Illyrian-Arbëror city of Berat”) (1990), in the study of the cemetery of Kruja (co-author) and in many articles and papers.
