Monsignor Frano Gjini, martyr of the Catholic Church, was shot in Shkodër. He was born in Shkodër. He was ordained a priest on June 28, 1908. He was parish priest of Durrës three times, then in Derven of Fushë-Kruja, Kurbin, and Perlat of Kthella (Mirditë). He was ordained a bishop on October 28, 1930, for the Abbey of Saint Llezhdri of Orosh in Mirdita. On January 4, 1946, he was transferred to the seat of Lezha, residing in Kallmet, continuing to be the Apostolic Administrator of the Abbey (monastery) of Orosh. He was arrested in Shkodër on November 15, 1946, sentenced to death on January 8, 1948 and shot. (In the photo: Frano Gjini)
