On April 19, 1824 , George Gordon Byron, English romantic poet, died in Greece. He was born in London in 1788. Among his literary works, an important place is held by the poem “Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage” (1812–1817), written on the basis of impressions from the poet’s travels in Spain, Greece, Albania, Switzerland, Italy etc. The poem is permeated by the pathos of the struggle for freedom of oppressed and enslaved peoples. In it, George Byron sang to the manly traditions and customs of the Albanians, their bravery and ardent love for freedom. In 1955, the work was translated into Albanian by Skënder Petro Luarasi.
