On April 19, 1914, Misto Treska (1914–1993), translator and publicist, political activist, diplomat, was born in Treska, Korça. Head of the National Lyceum (French) in Korça. He started publishing in the ‘30s in the press of the time. In the articles he published in the magazine “Bota e Re”, he asked for a realistic literature, with a democratic and social spirit. He actively participated in the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War; had high positions in the army and then in the state administration and diplomacy. He translated mainly from French literature, bringing into Albanian, with a lively and colorful language, masterpieces such as: “Rameau’s Nephew” (Diderot), “The Miserables” (V. Hygo), “Lucien Leuwen” (Stendhal), “The Little Thing” (A. Daudet), “Colas Breugnon “ (R. Rolland), “Silence of the sea” (Vercors) etc. A library with over 500 book titles in Tirana bears his name.
