Dom Pjeter Çuni, martyr of the Catholic Church, was born in Shkodër. He studied philosophy at the Albanian Pontifical Seminary in Shkodra, while he studied theology at the College of Rome. He was ordained a priest in Rome on March 23, 1940. After returning to Albania, he served in the parishes of the mountains around Shkodra: Reç, Lohe (Shkrel) and Rrjoll. Gave great help to the diocesan magazine “Kumbona e e Đelë”. He was arrested in Rrjoll and imprisoned in Koplik, on July 27, 1948. He passed away during torture, without trial, drowned in a barrel in Koplik, on July 31, 1948. (In the photo: Pjetër Çuni)
