Avdyl Dura, an activist of the national issue, was killed by the police forces in an attempt on the valley of Bajinca. His full name is Avdyl Zejnulla Zenuni. He was born in Duraj i Kaçanik, in 1893. In 1926 he was elected mayor of Slatina of Lepenci, a position he held until 1937. During the Second World War he was engaged against the Bulgarian fascist government. He was elected commander of the volunteers of Kaçanik (1941-1944). At the beginning of 1945, as mobilized, he was included in the VII Brigade of Kosovo that was sent to fight in Vojvodina, on the Srem Front. After his return, he was arrested by the UDB (Yugoslav Secret Service) and sent to Ferizaj prison (July 1945). In November of that year he escaped from prison, but after a year he was arrested again, together with his entire family of 25 members (May, 1946), who were kept in prison for almost three years. In 1949, he was killed in the ravine of Bajinca. His body was then exposed in the center of the city of Ferizaj. (In the photo: Avdyl Dura)
