Agim Çelaj

Agim Çelaj, a fighter of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Hero of Kosovo, was heroically killed during the fighting with the Serbian army. He was born in Peja, in 1961. He finished high school in his hometown. He studied at the General Military Academy in Belgrade and in Zare, Croatia, in the rocket artillery branch. As an officer of the Yugoslav army, he served for several years in Croatia. With the beginning of the war in Croatia, in agreement with the Croatian defense forces, in January 1992, he withdrew the Albanian soldiers who were in the barracks in the village of Vis, where he served. After the war in Croatia, he emigrated to Germany, from there he returned to Albania and in May 1988 he entered Kosovo. From the General Staff of the Kosovo Liberation Army, he was given the task of preparing special units for quick reactions. He also participated in battles, such as in Llapushnik, in Jashanica, for the defense of Kodra e Hoti, etc. He was also responsible for many front lines in the Operational Zone of Drenica and the Operational Zone of Pashtriku, such as in Açareve, Llaushë, Kleçkë, etc. In July 1998, he was put in charge of the units of the Kosovo Liberation Army for the evacuation of the civilian population and the defense of Rahovec. He fell heroically in 1998, during the fourth attack of the Serbian army. In 2013, he was decorated with the “Hero of Kosovo” Order by the President of Kosovo. (In the photo: Agim Çelaj)
