Feim Ibrahimi

Feim Ibrahimi, a composer and People’s Artist, passed away in Turin, Italy. He was born in Gjirokastër in 1935 and graduated from the State Conservatory of Tirana in 1966. He served as a lecturer at the High Institute of Arts from 1966 to 1977 and held the position of deputy director from 1973 to 1977. Additionally, he was the secretary for music at the League of Writers and Artists from 1977 to 1991 and served as the director of the Opera and Ballet Theater from 1991 to 1993. He also lectured at the Tirana Conservatory. Ibrahimi composed in nearly all musical forms and genres, ranging from vocal lyrics and chamber music to stage music. Some of his notable creations from the 1970s, such as Concertos No. 1 and 2 for piano and orchestra, were characterized by clear tendencies to enrich the musical language with contemporary tools, a trend that was further expressed in the works he created in the 1990s. In 1990, Feim Ibrahimi founded the National Music Committee, which he led for four years. Many of his works have been performed abroad, and he has received several important national awards, including the Republic Award of the Third and Second Degree. (In the photo: Feim Ibrahimi)
