Rrahim Beqiri, an activist and martyr of the war in North Macedonia, died from his injuries. He was born in the village of Kopernica in Kamenica in 1957. He attended high school in Kamenica and studied Albanian language and literature at the Faculty of Philology at the University of Pristina. Due to his political activities, he was mistreated and imprisoned several times. In the 1990s, he emigrated to Germany. With the onset of the war in Kosovo, he joined the ranks of the Kosovo Liberation Army in the area of Marec and participated in many battles. After the war in Kosovo, at the beginning of 2000, he was imprisoned by Russian forces. Following his release from prison, he joined the Liberation Army of Presevo, Medvegjë, and Bujanoc. In 2001, he became a member of the National Liberation Army in North Macedonia. On July 21, 2001, while fighting against Macedonian forces, he was seriously wounded and later died from his injuries.
