Faruk Begolli, actor, director, university professor, was born in Peja. He was born in Peja, in 1944. He completed primary and secondary school in his hometown. He finished his acting studies at the Academy for Theatre, Film, Radio and Television in Belgrade (1966). He played in over 60 films and TV dramas, feature films and different genres. He was one of the most popular film actors in the former Yugoslavia. At the beginning of the 70s of the 20th century, he was one of the first acting lecturers in the drama department at the Higher Pedagogical School in Prishtina. Later, in 1989, he established the direction of acting and the branch of dramatic art at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Prishtina. There, until 2007, he taught acting. For several years (2000-2005) he was the director of the theater “Dodona”. His artistic creativity as an actor began in 1966 with the Yugoslav films “Shikimi në bebezën e diellit” (“The look in the pupil of the sun”) and “Ëndrra” (“The Dream”). He then played lead and supporting roles in many locally produced films. His roles in the theater were fewer. During the 80s of the 20th century, he played in some of the performances of the Provincial People’s Theatre. He returned to the National Theater of Kosova in 2006, with the lead role in Shakespeare’s “King Lear”. In the theater “Dodona”, mainly with his students, he has also directed several theater performances. He was honored with awards and various prizes in the former Yugoslavia, as well as in the post-war years in Kosova. He passed away in 2007. (In the photo: Faruk Begolli)
