Xhevat Qena, actor, passed away in Prishtina. He was born in Mitrovica (Kosova), in 1932. He finished primary and secondary school in his hometown. He was engaged in the Regional People’s Theater since 1952. During his long career as an actor, he performed in numerous world and Albanian dramaturgy performances, mainly in the Regional People’s Theater. Among the most popular plays, which he performed the most distinguished roles on the stage of this theater, are: “Nuk martohem me pare” (“I don’t marry for money”), “Shërbëtori i dy zotnive” (“The servant of two masters”), “Koshtana”, “Kryet e hudhrës” (The head of garlic”), “Zonja ministreshë” (“Madam Minister”). In addition to comic roles, Xhevat Qena was also involved in dramatic roles, among which the role of Gjegjeu in the play “Sinkopa” stands out. He also performed in the stage productions of Serbian and Turkish dramas, within the Provincial People’s Theatre, such as in the plays “Personi i dyshimtë” (“The suspicious person”), “Shpijuni” (“The Spy”). For his stage creation, at the meetings of the “Joakim Vujiq” theaters held in Kragujevc (1966), he was awarded the best actor award for his role of Selver in Moliere’s “Scapin the Schemer” play, directed by Muharrem Qena. He was also engaged as an actor in cinematography, playing in the films: “Uka i Bjeshkëve të Nemuna” (1968), “Si të vdiset” (“How to die”) (1972), then in the films directed by Ekrem Kryeziu “Gjurmët e bardha” (“The white footprints”) (1980) dhe “Kur pranvera vonohet” (“When spring is delayed”) (1980).
