On April 1, 1969, Dom Marin Shkurti, a martyr of the Catholic Church, was executed. He was born in Samrish, in the Dajç area of Bregu i Bunës. At the height of the communist regime, he prepared for the priesthood privately under Archbishop Ernest Çoba, who ordained him on December 8, 1961, along with Dom Mikel Beltoja. He was arrested and imprisoned in Shkodra on November 27, 1968. His trial took place in Dajç, where he was sentenced to death on March 20, 1969. (In photo: Dom Marin Shkurti)
