On April 8, 1932 , in Follorina, Greece, Sotir Peci, an activist of the National Renaissance and the period of Independence, an outstanding figure of national education, Teacher of the People, passed away. He published the “Kombi” newspaper in Boston (USA) (1906–1908). Together with Petro Nini Luarasi and Fan Noli, they played a role in the formation of the “Besa-Besën” society in Boston, in 1907, and the “Lidhja” society in Saint Louis (Saint Louis), etc. He participated in the Congress of Manastir (1908). With the opening of the Normal School in Elbasan (1909), he was appointed a mathematics and natural sciences teacher. He directed the Albanian School of Korça (1911–1912). He was a member of the National Party (1914–1920), which was founded in Shkodër with branches in the country’s main cities, to oppose the plans of the Great Powers and the neighbors for the fragmentation of Albania. He participated as a delegate in the meeting of the National Congress of Lushnja (1920) and in the government that he formed, he was elected Minister of Education. For a few years, he was a member of the Supreme Council. After the suppression of the Democratic Revolution of June 1924, he emigrated abroad. Sotir Peci helped with the problems of education, as a publicist, author of school textbooks, participant in the Education Congresses in 1920 and 1922, etc. (In the photo: Sotir Peci)
