On April 21, 1999 , in the “Bullaj” neighborhood of Prishtina, in defense of the people during the Serbian occupation, was martyred Isa Kastrati (1947-1999), organizer of mass demonstrations in Prishtina, fighter of the Kosova Liberation Army. He was born in Hogosht of Gjilan. He completed primary school in his hometown and the high school in Gjilan. He graduated in the Russian language department at the University of Prishtina and was appointed an assistant in that department. He was not allowed to work by the Serbian government because of his national orientation. Later he studied mathematics, where he achieved high results. He worked as a teacher in Dardani, Hogosht, Ferizaj and Prishtina. He finished postgraduate studies and prepared his master’s thesis in the field of dialectology. He was an organizer of demonstrations in Prishtina from 1968 to 1989. Meanwhile, he was imprisoned three times. He maintained a dignified stance in the judicial process that was mounted on Adem Demaçi and his friends in 1975. In early January 1999, after many legal activities in the field, he entered the Kosova Liberation Army, in the Operational Zone of Llapi, where he worked as a leader of moral education in the “Zahir Pajaziti” Brigade.
