In Shkodër, Hysen Pelinku, a singer and “Merited Artist,” was born. From 1941 to 1942, he studied singing at the “Rossini” Conservatory in Pesaro, Italy. He participated in the National Liberation Anti-Fascist War. He was a singer at the Albanian Philharmonic since its founding and later at the National Theater of Opera and Ballet, where he played the lead role of Mullisi in the opera “Rusalka,” the first opera staged in Albania. He has performed leading roles in the operas “Traviata,” “The Barber of Seville,” “Carmen,” “La Bohème,” “Mrika,” and others. He participated in various concerts abroad (Poland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, China, etc.). He had a warm voice, appealing timbre, rhythmic compactness, and stage grace. He is also known as an interpreter of Albanian folk songs. He passed away in 1997. (In the photo: Hysen Pelinku)
