The “Zahaq Massacre” took place, a massacre by the Serbian police and army against the Albanian civilian population in the village of Zahaq in the municipality of Peja. Serbian forces on May 14, 1999, after the village of Pavlan, continued the action in the direction of the village of Zahaq. After surrounding the village, numerous police and military forces entered homes and, firing guns, forced the residents to gather in the center of the village. The assembled mass of villagers, loaded into trucks, tractors and cars, forced him to leave in the direction of Peja. On the way, the police stopped the convoy, from which they took 19 men and executed them without any reason. The bodies of those executed during the night were sent in an unknown direction. The names of some of those killed in this village are still on the list of missing persons. (In the photo: Pavlan and Zahaqi Cemetery.)
