Sten Dragoti, Albanian-American director and producer, passed away in Los Angeles, California (USA). He was born in New York, in a family of exiles from Dragoti of Tepelena, in 1932. He completed his higher studies at “Cooper Union” University in New York, in the field of visual arts. In 1959, he started working as a cartoon director, then moved to the television advertising industry as an art director, where he made over 150 commercials. A significant portion of them have entered the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and have been honored with prestigious awards, including the “Tony” award (the highest television award in the United States) given for the series of films about New York, titled “I Love New York.” In 1972, he also began directing artistic films such as “The Dirty Little Bill,” “Love at First Bite” (1979), “Mr. Mom” (1983), a satire on marital relationships, “The Man with One Red Shoe” (1989), which also features the Albanian-American actor James Belushi, and others. Sten Dragoti’s films tend to address family and social issues. In 1995, he visited Albania as a producer. (In the photo: Sten Dragoti)
