Marigo Pozio, activist of the movement for national liberation and social progress, was born in Hoçisht of Korça. In 1904, she settled in Vlora. She worked for the spread and maintenance of Albanian schools for the development of national consciousness. Member of the “Labëria” club in 1908. She participated in the organization of the club’s orchestra, where her two daughters were also active. She stood out for her patriotic speeches in front of the people and for the articles published in the Albanian press in exile. She embroidered the flag that was raised on the day of the Declaration of Independence, and in her house were multiplied the other flags that decorated the windows of the houses and the city. Active for the organization and emancipation of women. Together with her daughter, she organized the first women’s society (1914) in the city of Vlora. She was put in charge of the commission for the collection of aid for the fighters and for the emigrants of the southern provinces occupied by the Greek troops in 1914. In 1921, she reorganized the women’s society “Shpresa kombëtare” (“The national hope”) in Vlora; ran her newspaper of the same name, in which she published articles on the development and emancipation of women.
