Ramiz Varvarica

On April 6, 1938 , in Caspa of Aragon, Ramiz Varvarica (1900-1938), activist of the democratic movement, participant in the Spanish War, Hero of the People, was killed. He was born in the city of Dibra. At a young age he worked as an apprentice. In the years 1919-1920 he served in the Albanian militia and participated in the defense of the Congress of Lushnja (1920) and the government headed by Sulejman Delvina. In 1921, aligned with the forces of Bajram Curri and the forces from Dibra, he fought against the Yugoslav army, which had entered the eastern regions. He became active in the democratic movement, participated in the June Democratic Revolution of 1924, and fought for the realization of his program as a member of the “Bashkimi” Society. After the failure of the Revolution, he went into exile, first in Italy and then in France, where he lived and worked in the years 1925-1936. He became active in the French labor movement and collaborated with Albanian revolutionary immigrants. In 1936, he participated as a volunteer in the Spanish War. There he was charged with responsible duties and stood out for bravery. (In the photo: Ramiz Varvarica)
