Ejëll Deda

In the prison hospital of Shkodra, after inhuman tortures, the reverend Ejëll Deda, a diocesan priest, passed away. He was born in Shkodra in 1917. He completed elementary school with the Franciscans, while his secondary education was at the Pontifical Seminary of the city. He was ordained as a priest on February 24, 1943, at the Jesuit church in Shkodra, where the next day he celebrated his first mass. He served as a parish priest in the village of Bushat. He was arrested on November 12, 1947. On November 27 of the same year, the Military Court of Shkodra declared him guilty of “criminal offenses against the people and the state” and sentenced him to ten years of imprisonment and forced labor. His trial took place behind closed doors. (In the photo: Dom Ejël Deda)
