He fell in the war against the German Nazis during the general enemy attack in “Gurin e Prerë” (Opar), Xheladin Beqiri (1908–1944), Hero of the People. He was born in Gjilan (Kosovo). A long-suffering laborer, he responded to the call of the Albanian Communist Party and became a partisan in the Kurveleshi detachment (1942) and was appointed commander in the “Hajredin Tremishti” detachment (1943). Member of the Albanian Communist Party in October 1942. Propagandized the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War in Tepelena, Gjirokastra, Delvina province. With the formation of the 1st Assault Brigade, he was appointed deputy battalion commander (1943) and later commander of the V battalion (1944). He participated as a delegate in the Përmet Congress (1944). He stood out for his bravery in battles and as one of the most skilled commanders. (In the photo: Xheladin Beqiri)
