Indrit Cara

Indrit Cara, fighter of the Kosovo Liberation Army, martyr, was born in Kavaja. He attended the “Skënderbej” military high school in Tirana and continued his studies at the United Officers High School in Tirana, for anti-aircraft artillery. With the beginning of democratic processes in Albania, Indrit Cara emigrated to Italy, where he stayed for two years. Then he moved to London, where he met and worked with many immigrants from Kosovo. In January 1999, he decided to leave Great Britain and join the formations of the Liberation Army in Kosovo. At the beginning of March 1999, he managed to enter Kosovo. He was appointed commander of the autonomous company of the General Staff in Divjakë, Drenica. On March 31, 1999, he was involved in fighting in the Pashtriku Operative Zone, with the aim of protecting the population of the Pagarusha region. The Pashtrik Operational Area Command had requested reinforcements from the General Staff of the Kosovo Liberation Army. The headquarters ordered the autonomous company commanded by Indrit Cara to take the necessary combat actions in aid of this area. During these fights, he was killed by an artillery shell. He was honored with much gratitude in Albania and Kosovo. (In the photo: Indrit Cara)
