In Pestovë near Vushtrri, Zahir Pajaziti was killed, one of the founders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, and a Hero of Kosovo. He was born in the village of Turuqicë in the municipality of Podujeva in 1962. He completed his primary and secondary education in Orllan, then enrolled in the police school in Vushtrri but was expelled after a year as politically unsuitable. In 1981, he enrolled in the Department of English Language and Literature at the Faculty of Philology at the University of Prishtina. That same year, he participated in demonstrations in Podujeva. He later continued his illegal activities. In the early ’90s, he was active in organizing the Youth Parliament, forming the branch of this subject in Orllan. He was also active in the reconciliation of blood feuds. In 1991, Zahir Pajaziti went to Albania for military training. He contributed to the supply of weapons to the military cells established in the Orllan area. He crossed the border into Albania many times during the years 1994–1997. During these years, he worked on expanding new collaborators both within and outside the Llap area. In 1996, he carried out many coordinated military actions throughout the territory of Kosovo. A few days after returning from Albania, he was killed in an ambush organized by the Serbian police. On January 31, 2008, on the 11th anniversary of his death, the President of Kosovo awarded him the title “Hero of Kosovo.” (In the photo: Zahir Pajaziti)
