Tano Banushi (Athanas), actor, People’s Artist, was born in Shkodër. He was born in Shkodër, in 1927. In his hometown, he began his career as a comedy actor with the role of the drunkard in Henrik Ibsen’s drama “An enemy of the people” (1945). In 1958, Tano Banushi is one of the founders of the Variety Theater of Shkodra and is its most representative figure. He has played in about 200 shows, mainly in Shkodra’s Variety Theater, in one-act comedies, in skits, parodies, couplets, monologues, etc., creating his own profile as a popular comic actor, with special speech and plasticity. Among the most successful creations is the figure of Leo in the comedy “Këshilli i ndrikullave” (“The Council of Godmothers”) (1974) by Sheri Mita. Tano Banushi was also a coupletist, operetta singer and parodist and author of short humorous pieces. Tano Banushi traced the theater movement in Shkodër and created a rich archive of data about it. He passed away in Shkodër, in 1993. He was decorated with the order “Grand Master of Labor” (posthumously). (In the photo: Tano Banushi)
