On May 19, 2006, Anastas Kondo, writer and screenwriter, passed away. He was born in Kuçovë in 1937. In 1961, he completed his higher education at Saint Petersburg University, Faculty of Geology, specializing in paleontology. From his high school days, his passion for literature and the arts became evident. His work as a geological engineer, with extensive travels across the country and encounters with various people, inspired him to write reports and later short stories, which began to be published in press outlets such as Zëri i Rinisë and Drita. Later, he published novels that captured the attention of readers and filmmakers. From 1973 to 1976, he served as the secretary for literature at the League of Writers and Artists, and from 1976 to 1983, he was Chairman of the Committee of Culture and Arts.
