Prokop Mima, a Merited Artist and actor, passed away in Tirana. He was born in Durrës in 1920 and completed high school in his hometown. He played the role of Rozhe de Berville in the comedy “Topaz” by Marcel Pagnol during the inaugural performance of the State Theater on May 25, 1945. Throughout his career, he performed over 80 roles in theater and 4 in film. A satirical actor, his performances were valued for the portrayal of striking, original characters, utilizing his ringing voice, clear pronunciation, and physicality to elegantly convey these figures to the audience. Among his most successful roles were Zbishek in the comedy “Morali i zonjës Dulska” (“Morals of Mrs. Dulska”) by Gabriela Zapolska (1958), Xhivola in “Arturo Ui” by Bertold Brecht (1971), the post office clerk in “Revizori” (“The Auditor”) by Nikolai Gogol, Vurmi in “Intrigë dhe dashuri” (“Intrigue and Love”) by Friedrich Schiller, Adhamdhi in “Pas vdekjes” (“After Death”) by Çajupi, and don Marku in “Cuca e maleve” (“The Highland Girl”) by Loni Papa. He also portrayed a lieutenant general in “Gjenerali i ushtrisë së vdekur” (“The General of the Dead Army”) based on Ismail Kadare’s novel. In addition to his acting career, he served as a teacher of artistic speech at the High Institute of Arts and was a talented reciter of Albanian poetry. (In the photo: Prokop Mima)
