Sotiraq Çili, a successful actor of the “Andon Zako Çajupitheater in Korça and of Albanian cinematography, passed away. He was born in Korça in 1942 and studied acting at the High Institute of Arts. For many years, he was an actor at the “Andon Zako Çajupitheater in Korça, contributing significantly to the history of the Korçar theater. However, he is better known for his work in cinematography, where he had a considerable presence in Albanian films. He began his film career with the role of a German officer in the 1968 film “Prita” (“Ambush”) and went on to feature in several notable productions, including “Montatorja” (“The Assembler”) (1970) as a construction brigadier, “Flamur dallgë” (“Flag in the Wave”) (1977) as Colonel Karar, “Një udhëtim i vështirë” (“A Difficult Journey”) (1977), “Hetimi vazhdon” (“The Investigation Continues”) (1977), “Tomka dhe shokët e tij” (“Tomka and His Friends”) (1977) as Tomorri, “Gjeneral gramafoni” (“General Gramophone”) (1978), “Pas Gjurmëve” (“After the Traces”) (1978) as Guri, “Përtej mureve të gurta” (“Beyond the Walls of Stones”) (1979), “Karnavalet” (“Carnivals”) (1979), and “Kronikë e një nate” (“Chronicle of a Night”) (1990) as Nikolaj. Sotiraq Çili had a distinctive interpretative style characterized by a naturalness that sought to reveal the organic behavior of his characters, often opting to minimize dramatization during moments of turmoil and resentment.
