In Tirana, the League of Writers and Artists of Albania (LSHA) was established, an organization of creators that includes writers, composers and creators of visual arts. At first there were 70 members, including linguists and journalists and a section of young writers. At the top , it had a pluralist composition, then it oriented its activity according to a single ideological credo, declaring itself to be in defense of the principles of socialist realism. There were three congresses of the League before the 90s of the 20th century and several assemblies afterwards. The 1st Congress held in 1957 announced the union of the League of Writers and Artists. Congress II was held in 1969, Congress III developed its work in 1984. Adhering to the method of socialist realism, this congress emphasized the need for militancy, but also for a higher quality in creativity. After the 90s of the 20th century, pluralism in art was announced, with the First Assembly. Problems of the organization and functioning of the association were the subject of discussion in other assemblies. The Union of Writers and Artists of Albania has carried out a wide range of activities during its life. Problems of literature and other arts were professionally beaten. In creative discussions, generalized analyzes of artistic creativity have been made, for its achievements and shortcomings of a professional and ideological character. The association has published the literary newspaper “Drita” (“Light”), the magazine “Nëntori” (“November”), as well as a magazine in French “Les lettres albanaises” . (In the photo: LSHA building)
