Gjon Simoni, Merited Artist, passed away in Tirana. He was born in Shkodër, in 1936. He received his final professional education at the State Conservatory of Tirana (1962–1967), where he graduated in theory. Then he was editor of music programs (1968-1970) and responsible for the creativity and recordings editorial office at Albanian Radio and Television. From 1980 until the end of his life, he worked at the Academy of Arts, where, in addition to being a lecturer, he earned the title of Professor in 1995. His musical activity marked contributions in several fields. He composed a number of vocal, instrumental and orchestral works, choreographic paintings; is the author of the music of many Albanian films. In 2001, his book “Simfonia e Nje Jete” (“The Symphony of a Life“) was published. (In the photo: Gjon Simoni)
