Pal Maria Parrino, a distinguished Arbëresh scholar, passed away. He was born in Palazzo Adriano (Sicily). He was a researcher of many disciplines in the humanities, such as linguistics, history and literature, he wrote poetry in Arbëresh. He was the teacher of many bright figures in the history of Albanianology, including Nikolla Keta, who testified to Parrino’s seriousness in his research and accuracy to scientific data. He was the rector of the Albanian Seminary of Palermo and one of the most worthy successors of the academic activity of Gjergj Guxeta. He is known as the author of a manuscript of 600 pages, divided in 12 chapters, where he scientifically argues, based on linguistic and historical facts, the identity of Albanians and their Illyrian origin.
