Ndre Lufi

In Shkodër passed away Ndre Lufi, a Catholic clergyman. He was born in Shkodër in 1888. He completed his primary and secondary education in his hometown, while for his higher education, he completed his philosophy and theology studies in Innsbruck, Austria. He was ordained a priest on July 30, 1919. He held the first mass after returning to his homeland, at the Church of Our Lady, in Rozafa Castle. For ten years he served as parish priest in Mirdita Abbey. He was arrested on August 22, 1950, because he did not compromise with the state and was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment. He was released in 1959. After the closing of the churches, he lived near his grandchildren. He was buried in the Rrmaji cemetery (the Catholic cemetery of Shkodra). (In the photo: Dom Ndre Lufi)
