In Tirana passed away Amik Kasoruho, writer, publicist and translator. He was born in Tirana. He was arrested at the age of 17 for agitation and propaganda and was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment. After he exited prison, in the period 1956-1962 he lived in Kavaja. Then he was expelled with his family to Gosa, where he lived for almost 30 years, until 1990. After the fall of the dictatorship, he left for Italy, where he stayed until 2009. During this period, he was engaged in publishing, translations and writing. He brought over 60 works of foreign authors into Albanian and translated over 10 Albanian authors into foreign languages. Amik Kasoruho has translated into Albanian works by Pirandello, Isabel Allende, Harold Robbins, Patrick O’Brian, John Selby, etc. One of his last translations was “Revolt of Atlas” by the well-known American writer and philosopher Ayn Rand.
