Three German Wehrmacht divisions, assisted by Albanian collaborators and arranged in a semicircular formation, began operations in the southern depths of the country, between the cities of Korçë, Elbasan, and Berat.
Pandeli Evangjeli (1859–1949) was born in Korçë. He was an activist of the National Renaissance, Prime Minister, and a high-ranking state official during the period of Independence.
The "Action of Partisan Squad Units" took place, the first action on a national scale during the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War for the liberation of several centers of the country.
