Gani Strazimiri, painter and architect, passed away in Tirana. He completed his secondary studies in painting at the drawing school in Tirana and then began his studies in architecture in Turin (Italy), which he interrupted due to the Second World War. He returned to Albania and participated as an anti-fascist in the partisan army. After the war, Gani Strazimiri studied architecture in Moscow (former USSR) and was an urban architect, designing several important buildings in the center of Tirana, such as: “Agimi” palaces and “Shallvare” palaces. With the creation of the Institute of Cultural Monuments, Strazimiri was its first director. Since 2007, this Institute bears the name “Gani Strazimiri”.
