In the village of Pobrat (Berat), Hekuran Pobrati was born, a participant in the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War, a senior soldier, lieutenant colonel, People’s Hero. At a young age, he was forced to face the difficulties of life, and for reasons of enmity, he changed his name to “Tafil Buzi” and ran away to Mallakastër, Vlora and Kurvelesh. After the meeting with Mustafa Matohiti, in December 1941 he joined the Anti-Fascist National Liberation Movement. On April 1, 1942, he joined the Kurvelesh detachment. In May 1943, by decision of the Communist Party of Gjirokastra, he was transferred to the “Plakë” detachment of Mallakastra. With the formation of the 1st Assault Brigade, he was appointed deputy battalion commander. He participated in all the battles that the brigade carried out until the liberation of the country. In 1945, he was appointed battalion commander in the People’s Defense Forces. In 1947 he was arrested on charges of collaboration with the enemy and after a year of investigations he was declared innocent and won all his rights. During the period 1948–1953, he acted to detect and eliminate armed groups hostile to the regime in force. He retired in 1974. Hekuran Pobrati was elected to the General Committee of the Democratic Front of Albania and to the General Committee of Veterans of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War.
