Jup Kazazi, political activist, minister of the Fascist Party in the government of Mustafa Kruja, leader of the National Front, committed suicide in Shkodër. He was born in Shkodër, in 1909. He studied economics in Belgrade and, after being expelled from the Serbo-Croatian-Slovenian Kingdom in 1920, he continued his studies in Turin (Italy). He spoke Serbo-Croatian, Italian, French and English. With the invasion of Albania by Italy, he becomes part of the National Front, works as an economist in the Ministry of Finance. With the insistence of his friends, he became a minister of the Fascist Party, even though he was against fascism. Upon coming to power (1944), the communists sentenced him to death. Jupi reflects this fact in his diary. His diary begins on November 25, 1944. Salvator Kurti informs him that Jupi, and his four brothers have been sentenced to death by the communist party. So, for the third time, they were forced to go up the mountain. He became the leader and symbol of what is known as the “anti-communist uprising of Postriba” (1946). Surrounded by the communists, he killed himself in 1946, in order not to fall into the hands of the communists. (In the photo: Jup Kazazi)
