Llambi Ziçishti, general surgeon, professor, was executed by a firing squad. He was born in Ziçisht of Devolli, in 1923. He headed the National (French) High School of Korça. He participated in the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War. He began his higher studies in Paris (1946–1948) and finished them in Bucharest (1948–1953). In the years 1953-1965 he served as a surgeon in Hospital no. 2 of Tirana, being the head of general surgery at the Faculty of Medicine (1955-1959) and dean (1969-1970). In the years 1959-1962, he oversaw the general surgery clinic, director of Hospital no. 2 (1965–1968) and Minister of Health (1970–1982). He mainly dealt with abdominal surgery and treated gastroduodenal ulcers with vagotomy, etc. During the years 1961–1963 he studied urolithiasis. In the clinic run by him, in addition to abdominal surgery, minor blood vessel surgery was also performed. From 1974 to 1982, when he was arrested for political reasons, he was a member of the People’s Assembly; a year later he was sentenced to death and shot.
