In Vig of Mirdita, Naim Gjylbegu, participant of the National Liberation Anti-Fascist War, and Hero of the People, was killed in the war with Gjon Marka Gjon’s forces. He was born in Shkodër, in 1920. From a young age he embraced communist ideas and was involved in anti-government activities. With the creation of the Communist Youth organization, he was elected a member of its Regional Committee in Shkodra region (1942). He was among the organizers of the demonstration of February 22, 1942 in Shkodër. He was imprisoned and brutally tortured. He became a member of the Albanian Communist Party in May 1942. He acted as an agitator for the propaganda of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War in the areas of Dukagjin, Lezhë and Mirdita. As company commander in the “Perlat Rexhepi” battalion (1943), he took part in the battle of Reçi (1943). (In the photo: Naim Gjylbegu)
