The “Battles of Kaçanolli“, important battles of the Kosovo Liberation Army, took place in the Operational Area of Llapi. On September 15, 1998, the enemy attacked the positions of the 151st Brigade of the Kosovo Liberation Army, with the aim of breaking the resistance in the defensive area and then penetrating the rear. Then the frontal battles began, in which significant damage was caused to the enemy in terms of people and combat equipment. Fierce fighting took place on the second and third day, preventing the enemy from penetrating the right and left flanks of the Kosovo Liberation Army units. Meanwhile, the Command of the Operative Zone of Llapi took measures for the relocation of the population, the wounded, and the military hospital, as well as other technical and material means. On the fourth day, the enemy, with a large concentration of combat technical forces, tried to penetrate to take the road junction near the village of Bajgorë, where it penetrated, but suffered great losses in people. Around midnight on this date, the enemy was finally driven out of this territory. During the retreat, Serbian forces massacred the civilian population.
